APDWF/JGHF Young Investigator Award (YIA)

Purpose

The purpose of the Young Investigator Award (YIA) is to stimulate interest in research training by rewarding outstanding examples of excellence amongst those involved in research training in the early stages of their career. Applicants must be from nationalities of Asia Pacific countries.

The award will be presented at the APDW 2018 and is jointly sponsored by the APDWF and the JGHF.

Application Requirement
Applicant must be in the early stages of their career up to 5 years following the completion of training in gastroenterology/ hepatology. Training certification of the presenting author will be requested to apply for the award during the abstract submission process.
Selection Process
Applicants for the APDW/JGHF YIA should submit their abstracts for oral presentation. Applicants shall be shortlisted according to the score assigned by the Abstract Selection Committee. Selected abstracts for the APDW/JGHF YIA will be announced in July 2018 and compete for the 3 awards:
  • 1st Prize: USD 2,000
  • 2nd Prize: USD 1,500
  • 3rd Prize: USD 1,000
Assessment
In assessing the presenters for the awards, the panel of judges will take into account the following criteria:
  • Quality and scientific merit of the abstract - 50%
  • Quality of the presentation - 25%
  • Ability to defend the work - 25%

APDWF Posters of Distinction Award

Purpose

The purpose of the Posters of Distinction Award is to stimulate interest in research training by rewarding outstanding examples of excellence amongst those involved in research training in the early stages of their career and who prefer to present their papers in poster mode. Applicants must be from nationalities of Asia Pacific countries.

The award will be presented at the APDW 2018 and is sponsored by the APDWF.

Application Requirement
Applicant must be in the early stages of their career up to 5 years following the completion of training in gastroenterology/ hepatology. Training certification of the presenting author will be requested to apply for the award during the abstract submission process.
Selection Process

Applicants for the Posters of Distinction Award will be shortlisted according to the score assigned by the Abstract Selection Committee. Selected abstracts for the Posters of Distinction Award will be announced in July 2018 and compete for the 3 awards:

A maximum of 5 Posters of Distinction shall be awarded at USD 1,500 each.

Assessment

APDWF/JGHF Travel Grants

Purpose

The APDWF/JGHF Travel Grants are to provide the opportunity for clinicians and scientists in the early stages of their career (up to five (5) years following the completion of training in gastroenterology/ hepatology.) to broaden their education and experience the field of gastroenterology/ hepatology.

Up to 70 travel grants will be presented.

The award is sponsored by the APDWF and JGHF. APDWF and JGHF will offer up to 50 and 20 travel grants, respectively.

Application Requirement

- Applicant must be in the early stages of their career up to 5 years following the completion of training in gastroenterology/ hepatology.

- Applicants must be from nationalities of Asian Pacific countries.

- Applicants must be able to converse in English.

- Applicants must submit abstract, be selected, and attend the APDW 2018 to be qualified for the grants.

- Curriculum vitae (CV) together with list of papers presented and published must be submitted to apply for the grant during the abstract submission process.

- Travel grant recipients must attend the APDWF/JGHF Young Clinician Investigator Program which will be held on November 14 (Wed), 2018 to be qualified for the grants.

Description

- A maximum of 70 grants of USD 1,500 each will be available.

- One (1) night hotel accommodation allowance will be offered to awardees for attending the APDWF/JGHF Young Clinician Investigator Program.

- The grant can only be used to fund attendance at APDW 2018 in the relevant year and is not transferable.

- Priority will be given to applicants from countries with limited opportunities to attend education and training activities.

Acceptance Notification
Successful applicants shall be notified in July 2018.

KDDW Travel Grants

Purpose

To encourage the participation of international participants, the KDDW 2018 organizing committee will provide Travel Grants to doctors under the age of 45 whose abstracts are selected for the KDDW Young Investigator Forum session to be held on November 15 (Thu), 2018.

Conditions for Application

- Applicant must be a citizen of an Asian Pacific country under the age of 45.

- Applicant must be able to converse in English.

- Applicant must submit an abstract, be selected, and attend KDDW 2018 to be qualified for the Travel Grants.

- Applicant must submit a curriculum vitae (CV) together with a list of papers presented and published during the abstract submission process to apply for the Travel Grant.

- Travel Grant recipients must give a presentation at the Asian Young Investigator Forum to be held on November 15 (Thu), 2018.

Description

- A maximum of 30 Travel Grants of USD 1,500 each will be available.

- Applicant must be pre-registered for the congress and complete the payment of his/her registration fee by September 30, 2018.

- Priority will be given to applicants from countries with limited opportunities to attend educational and training activities.

Acceptance Notification
Successful applicants shall be notified in September 2018.
